Interview with Author K.M. Randall

Today I have fellow author K.M. Randall on The Scribbler!

What books have you written?

Fractured Dream (The Dreamer Saga), The Reaper’s Daughter, and I’m currently releasing a companion prequel to Fractured Dream on Wattpad, called Fairytale Lost, and it’s two chapters away from completion.

What are you currently working on?

I am working on Shattered World, the second book in the Dreamer Saga trilogy. On the side, I’m also working on a Sci-Fi/Fantasy.

What is the first thing that pops into your head when you read: The path stopped short, large hedges broke away revealing a door never seen before.

It makes me think of Mary, just starting to transform from a pale, sullen child to become rosy-cheeked and full of energy discovering the Secret Garden for the first time. It’s a wonderful, magical moment, a favorite book from my childhood. A favorite book today.

If you could climb inside a book for a weeks vacation, what book would it be?

As long as I get to be a witch I’d love to hang out with the aunts, Sally, and Gillian from Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman. It’s one of my favorite books, and I get bored just laying around on the beach. Or else Madeleine L’Engle’s A Ring of Endless Light because I’d hang out with the dolphins.

You are traveling through the forest; you come across large black trees and a goblin sitting by a small fire. After a bit of back and forth, the goblin decides to put a curse on you. The curse is: You could only write four more words for the rest of your life. What four words would they be?

‘Tis never the end.

If you were gifted with your choice of superpower what would it be?

Healing!

What three fictional characters that have played a hand in inspiring to create characters of your own?

Morgan le Fay
Crystal, Wizard of the Grove series, by Tanya Huff
Jilly Coppercorn, Onion Girl by Charles de Lint

What are you currently reading?

The Goddess Within by Iva Kenaz and First Frost by Sarah Addison Allen.

What is your favorite fairytale?

This is hard since I’ve always loved the Little Mermaid but realized of late that I really hate the true version. As a kid, I thought it was horrifying, so I’m not sure why I decided it was my favorite. There are literally SO many out there, but for mainstream ones I’d have to say Little Red Riding Hood. I like the potential there is for twisting, which I actually did in Fractured Dream. Going along with this, my favorite legend is definitely the King Arthur tales, especially anything surrounding Morgan le Fay.
